Loaded Toffee Caramel Popcorn

This is the time of year for yummy snacks and great movies! I love to snuggle up on the couch and put on one of my favorite holiday movies while enjoying a delicious treat. Starting in October, I have a full list of Halloween movies to trek through. Then once Halloween is over, it is time to check those adorable Christmas movies off the list!

I can’t think of a better snack for movie night than popcorn. I mean the two have been together for decades, so I am not going to change the tradition now. I am just going to take the common movie snack to the next level! This Loaded Toffee Popcorn will be the treat you can’t put down. Dangerously good! It will take a little longer than the traditional microwave popcorn but trust me when I say it will be totally worth it!

This popcorn is studded with chopped pretzel sticks, salted peanuts, and M&Ms, then covered in homemade toffee caramel sauce. I mean c’mon! Can it get any better? Well, if you think of something, send it my way! The awesome thing about this popcorn is you can add anything you want as a mix in! From mini marshmallows, to candy corns for Halloween, the possibilities are endless! This is always a hit when you get the kids involved too.

So, go grab your favorite movie and make some of this yumminess with your favorite people!

Loaded Toffee Caramel Popcorn

· 10 cups of popped popcorn

· 8 oz. butter

· 1 cup light brown sugar

· 2 tsp. vanilla

· 1/2 tsp. baking soda

· 1 cup chopped pretzel sticks

· 1 cup salted peanuts

· 1 cup M&Ms (mix in last)

1. Make popcorn and place in a large bowl. Mix in pretzels, and peanuts then set aside.

2. In a medium saucepan melt butter over medium heat. Once melted, add 1 cup of brown sugar and stir until thoroughly mixed.

3. Stirring continuously, bring the butter and sugar mixture up to a boil. When it reaches a boil allow it to cook for 5 minutes occasionally stirring on medium heat.

4. Add the 2 tsp. of vanilla at the 4-minute mark and stir to mix. Continue to boil for one addition minute and then remove from heat and add the 1/2 teaspoon of baking soda and mix in very well. Mixture will bubble up so be careful.

5. Drizzle the toffee caramel mixture over the popcorn mix. Use a spoon to gently fold the popcorn with the mixture until all covered. At the last minute add in M&Ms.

6. Pour the popcorn out onto a cookie sheet lined with parchment paper.

7. Let the popcorn cool, then Enjoy!
